Discipleship Under Fire
We are pleased to welcome back Father Peter Casey, parish priest from
Ballinagh, County Cavan, Ireland, to conduct our Lenten Parish Mission at St. Joseph on March 12th - 14th.
Father Casey recently wrote to Msgr. Barr and described the upcoming mission. Father Casey stated, "Last year I took the notion of discipleship and explored the meaning of that since it is central to your parish family's understanding of their mission. This year, I would like to speak about 'Discipleship under Fire,' and I will be inviting people to join me in considering what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus in the face of opposition from other people, sickness and death, loss of work, home, marriage, change and disturbance of any kind."
This should be a very exciting and challenging Lenten Mission. Please mark it on your calendar and plan on attending. You will not be disappointed!
Light of the World Retreat
On February 24th - 26th, St. Joseph Parish will have a Light of the World Retreat. Registration will take place after all the Masses beginning on February 10th & 11th.
What is this retreat about? It is given by parishioners and a priest. The retreat begins on Friday evening and ends on Sunday evening with participants able to go to their own homes each evening.
This retreat is an evangelization process. It provides each attendee the opportunity for a personal encounter with Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Answering the call of John Paul II for a "new evangelization," LOTW provides a dynamic vehicle for spreading the Good News and bringing souls closer to Christ. The LOTW process reaches out to all - from the beginning "seeker" to those well along their faith journey.
We hope that you will join your fellow parishioners for a life-changing weekend!
