Dear Fellow Disciples,
It gives me great joy to welcome all of you to our new and improved
Parish website. I am grateful to those who have made this effort possible.
It is my sincere hope that we will use our website to promote our Parish
mission to live as Disciples of Jesus.
I hope the website will offer us the opportunity to continue to build up
God's Kingdom here on earth and to invite greater participation from all of
our Parishioners. One of our parish goals is to build upon the charism of
hospitality, one of the pillars of a stewardship Parish. We want
parishioners to know they are welcomed and valued, thereby fostering a sense
of ownership and personal involvement in living out stewardship day by day.
Who is a true Christian steward? It is one who receives God’s gifts
gratefully and cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable
manner. It is one who shares them in justice and love with others and
returns them with increase to the Lord. I am most grateful for the
stewardship of so many, and I encourage and invite even wider engagement in
our mission, which is the mission of Christ Jesus himself.
In our effort to be more welcoming as a Parish family, I call on all of
you to take a few moments each Sunday after mass to greet someone in the
narthex that you have not met before, welcome them, chat with them for a few
moments and make them feel special.
Again, welcome. We are truly blessed to have you and I am confident that
we will be enriched by your gifts in our midst. Please do not hesitate to
introduce yourself to me after masses and if you would ever like me to come
and bless your home, I would be happy to do so. Our Holy Father, Pope
Benedict XVI recently said, “Promotion of the practice of stewardship is
important for the mission of the Church and for the spiritual well being of
each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one
makes of his time, talent and treasure.”
May God bless you and yours always.
Yours sincerely in the Risen Lord,
Rev. Msgr. Liam M. Barr, V.F.
