Two educational
field trips per
grade (within a 55-mile radius) are taken throughout the school year.
Math Counts is for Junior High
students who enjoy math. They compete against other junior high students in other
Lincoln schools, both as a team and individually, in a competition sponsored in February
by the Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers.
Each year students in the fifth through eighth grades participate in a
geography bee, with the school winner taking a
test to qualify for the state competition. The state winner is then eligible to go
to the national competition.
Each year all students may take part in a
science
fair, with participation being mandatory for seventh and eight grade
students.
We recycle paper at St. Joseph School and also have an
Aluminum
Can Drive as an on-going project. The cans are taken in for
recycling after the first weekend of each month. Please bring in all of your cans
from home! Proceeds go to the Quest Room.
Each year St. Joseph School celebrates with Catholic
Schools Week. A popular tradition is our ice cream sundae
extravaganza on "Students Day"! Other activities include
an open house, kindergarten and new student registration, science fair, etc. Each
day is dedicated to a different group of people: parents, priests, teachers/staff, and
students.
Individual pictures
are taken in the fall of each year.
These as well as classroom composite pictures are available for purchase by the
students.
We
celebrate St. Joseph's Day in March.
One of our activities is a talent show. We
also have an annual
Christmas Program and a
Spring Music Program where we share our
talents.
We enjoy pizza on
Field Day. But that is only
one of the many exciting activities planned
for this fun filled day.
