Family
Ministries
Family Ministry is
involved in the ongoing development of
resources, activities and programs for
youth, singles, married, divorced, widowed,
elderly and hurting families in
collaboration with existing parish
organizations in response to the needs of
the parish family. A core group meets
monthly for planning, enrichment and ongoing
education.
The mission of Family
Ministry is to empower families to minister
to one another and to bring a family
perspective to all parish activities. Its
goal is to strengthen healthy families and
to support hurting families in times of
crisis and transition.
Good Counsel
Retreats
St. Joseph's Parish
encourages the men and women of the parish
to make an annual retreat at the retreat
house in Waverly. The retreat house assigns
dates for the retreats, which are usually
held in the late winter or early spring.
Watch the bulletin for details regarding the
specific dates and how to sign up for a
retreat.
Holiday Fair
This major fundraising and entertaining
activity for the parish is held in November
before Thanksgiving. Many holiday crafts are
donated for sale, games are presented for
children and those who have not outgrown
childhood, various raffles are conducted,
and a meal is provided during this fun
event.
Perpetual
Adoration
A program of 24-hour-a-day adoration and
devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
Parishioners sign up for an hour a week.
Substitutes are also recruited to replace
adorers who on occasion are unable to be
present for their hour. The feature of
someone being in the church around the
clock, praying for the needs of the parish
is a powerful force for good in the parish.
Contact the rectory to become a regular
adorer, a substitute, or simply to obtain
more information about this most worthwhile
apostolate.
Prime Timers
A social group of
parishioners who are in the "prime of their
lives". Check the bulletin for more
information.
Pro-Life
An educational and prayerful organization
devoted to protecting all innocent human
life from conception to natural death. All
parishioners are strongly encouraged to
participate in the various pro-life
activities sponsored, including picketing at
Planned Parenthood.
Project Rachel: healing the wounds of
abortion. Don't suffer any longer from
guilt, despair, psychological and spiritual
problems. For more information
